Selçuk Gürışık

Selçuk Gürışık is an Istanbul-born artist, designer, and researcher with a background in architecture from Istanbul Technical University and a PhD in Art and Design from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.

His work explores the intersections of material, memory, and ritual through fiber art, with a particular focus on the revival of Anatolian felt-making traditions. Gürışık has exhibited internationally, including major shows at Topkapı Palace (Istanbul), New York, London, and Milan, where he reintroduces traditional techniques through contemporary expression.

He has contributed to international performance, cinema, and dance projects as a set and costume designer, and served as art director on various interdisciplinary productions. He has also led experimental theatre initiatives rooted in his belief that “every open space is a stage,” often engaging with the public through site-specific and collective performance work.

In parallel with his academic teaching roles, Gürışık integrates craft and making practices into art therapy, exploring the healing dimensions of manual production.

Currently, he continues to develop experimental, cross-disciplinary exhibitions, focusing on the dialogue between material form and conceptual difference.
